The Construction of a High-Performance Home: Week 11

High Performance Home, Zero energy construction

I have this dream that I will one day live in a high-performance home. It’s hard not to want to when you are involved with building them each day. Super tight construction, high levels of insulation, largely maintenance free, and inexpensive to heat and cool! Who wouldn’t want that?

At the end of week 11, the interior of the house is begging to be sheetrocked. Rumor has it that will begin next week. The house will look and feel different then! While we wait on that phase of construction to take place, the heating contractor continues to plug away at the installation of the boiler for the radiant heating system in the floor, and our crew is working their way around the exterior nailing on siding one piece at a time. By the end of week 12, the siding should be nearing completion and work on the exterior decks will take place.
